Home sick on a Saturday night

I'm currently watching:

Listen to Phoenix on their Myspace or go to www.wearephoenix.com and you can download "1901" for free.

I'm currently loving their song "Lisztomania". Listen to it I think you'll like it or maybe not.

Ive drawn a blank... I got distracted chatting with Steve (Niles, that is) and my best friend, Betty.

Hmmmm so since ive been home sick since yesterday ive been listening to a lot of music.

Heres a list of some of the bands that have kept me company over the past two days:

*The Pains of Being Pure at Heart
*The Manhattan Love Suicides
*St. Christopher
*Close Lobster
*The Poppyheads
*The Orchids
*The Pooh Sticks
*The Television Personalities
*Boyracer
*The Cats Miaow
*The Pastels
*Talulah Gosh
*Blueboy
*Black Tambourine
*14 Iced Bears
*McCarthy
.......and many many more

Hmm if i wasnt sick i would most definetly be here:

now i will have to wait til the first saturday of next month to go to Anorak City and join the indie pop dance party! or i can just have my own indie pop party here in my room by myself :)

yessssss you can join me!!!
lets see what song??? hmm I know "Dorsal Fin" by Househunters thats a good start i think.

ohhhhhhhh almost forgot The Pains of Being Pure at Heart had their television debut on Last Call w/ Carson Daly last night or rather this morning, April 4, 2009. If you didnt get to see it here it is

I found out they were going to be on Last Call I think two weeks ago while reading Matthew Edwards blog which you can find at Skatterbrain.org. As soon as I found out I logged on to 1iota.com and got my tickets. According to my email confirmation that was on 3/25/09. Also the same day, i think, i got my ticket to go see them the same night (April 1st) at Spaceland. Those were their first shows here so i had to be there.

At the taping of this on April 1st besides performing "Young Adult Friction" they also performed "Come Saturday" and "Everything With You". I think I was the only one there to see The Pains... or that's how it seemed cause i was the only one singing along to all their songs. There were a lot of seat fillers there. The band seemed kind of nervous and a bit awkward on stage, but I thought they did great. I spoke to Peggy (vocals, keyboards) for a bit before the Spaceland show she said it was their "first time doing something like that" and it was awkward for them since they thought everyone there was a paid extra. Until of course they met me! haha. I kind of felt like a nerd superfan when I got them to sign my copy of their LP. I had to leave my recently purchased shirt with the bartender as collateral while I borrowed her sharpie. They were all super sweet and nice. Well I don't know about Kurt(drums) since i couldn't find him though Kip found him for me after the show and got him to sign the LP for me.... Kip(guitar, vocals) was especially sweet and recognized me from the taping..."You were the one wearing the yellow dress! I saw you singing along". Later in another conversation he said that at the taping he was "too nervous to look at anyone in the crowd, except one sec i saw you."

The fact that they are so nice just makes me more enamored with their band... I think its great when bands are like that...for example Nick from Catwalk is super nice! They are another one of those bands I cant get enough of! We spent hours chatting online last night about the pains actually and other things too :) We are going to try to catch one of their shows together when they come back this summer. Eric from Yay! Records (who was also at the show at Spaceland) is trying to get them to play a show in Oxnard this summer when they come back so maybe Nick won't have to come all the way down to The Echo July20th and instead I'll have to drive all the way out there for the show...it'll be worth it though FOR SURE. How did I start talking about Catwalk??? Oh yeah the whole being nice too thing... yeah i mean cause if they were jerks that would kind of suck and even if their music was amazing it wouldn't feel the same... I love that both those bands have a sincere genuine feel to them...and once you talk to them you realize that they really ARE sincere and genuine.

here is a video of them playing in a bathroom while there is a party going on the other side of the bathroom door...
