Went to a show at The Smell last night to see:
*note that this isnt a review or anything its just me writing about my night.
Princeton
They are a "Concrete / Shoegaze / Pop" band from Eagle Rock, California. They were fun and got everyone warmed up for the next two acts. The drummer(David Kitz, who is super adorable), got a bloody nose before the started and played their whole set with a wad of tissue paper up his nose. You can check out their Myspace and listen to their tunes by clicking on their name above the picture.
The Tartans
They describe themselves as "Indie / Pop / Melodramatic Popular Song " on their Myspace. I was first suppose to see them for the first time March 8th of this year at Part Time Punks: Yay! Records Nite but,
"Anyone who is in the L.A. area, and was planning to venture out to the Echo to see the Tartans on Sunday night should still plan to do so, as Sea Lions are still playing, and The Part Time Punks will still be spinning some of the best 7"s ever pressed, but the Tartans are now unable to appear. It seems that on Wednesday night as drummer Lon was biking home, he was hit by a car. They were initially planning to have him released yesterday, but it turns out that assessment came too quickly. He is having surgery today to reconnect some muscles, and apparently there are broken bones as well.-- via: Marion
I found this out before not by Marion but by Nick of Catwalk who messaged me and told me that they were filling in for them that night. It was kind of bad news and then kind of good news too. I didnt get to see The Tartans perform that night but i did get to watch CATWALK again which was great since i wasnt going to be able to make their show at the Kenji Shack on the March 13th.
Anyway, back to The Tartans. Lon didnt get to play this show either but he was there making sure everything went well. They had another Brian filling in for him. My best friend fell in "love" with him since he kind of looked like Ben Gibbard (you know from Death Cab, Postal Servic, etc.) I on the other hand fell for the other Brian(guitar, vocals) he reminded me of a way much better looking Andy Dick. Im not a huge fan of Andy Dick but I am a fan of Brian...hahah. SO, go to their page and listen to ''West of La Brea'' its super cute and you wont help but smile and maybe dance a little.

hmmm talk about technical difficulties.... not so much on part of the techs more on the part of Jeremy wanting things set a certain way....understandable I guess but it kind of took rather long. I want to write about his set I really do but I'll come back to it....later listen to him though. Songs I recommend are "Airwalker" and "Alpharythm"
